Guangzhou Nansha Pearl Bay Master Plan

Guangzhou Nansha Pearl Bay Master Plan

Architectus recently joined forces with China International Engineering Design and Consulting Co. Ltd (CIEDC) to win an international design competition which aims to transform Nansha Pearl Bay into a new national economic zone in China.

Incorporating a total area of 291 hectares, Nansha Pearl Bay is located on the Pearl River Delta at the southern gateway to Guangzhou in the Nansha District, and is a strategically important site in the Government’s push for regional growth.

The vision for the development is “City of Wisdom, Harbour of Fascination”. Architectus TMG led the design effort to develop the winning master plan which comprises precincts for business, residential, cultural, leisure and entertainment uses with key facilities including a convention and exhibition centre, contemporary art gallery, fisherman’s market and ecological island resort.

Innovations include a continuous and dynamic waterfront to enhance engagement between the harbour and the city, as well as a system of walkways to connect the urban environment with the water.

Our team has an ongoing commission from the Government to develop the master plan in greater detail and then provide a design review role for all development proposals that are submitted for sites and precincts within the master plan area for a period of three years.
