Clair Nicholls named a Fellow of NZ Institute of Architects
We warmly congratulate Clair Nicholls who was named a Fellow of Te Kāhui Whaihanga NZ Institute of Architects at Auckland Branch Fellows Celebration in November, 2025.
The Institute Board recognised Clair for her outstanding service to the New Zealand Institute of Architects through her significant and sustained contributions to the Auckland Branch. Clair’s service and contribution have significantly enriched the architectural profession, and demonstrated adaptability, leadership, and commitment to the profession. Clair has taken on responsibilities within the events and fellowship subgroups. She continued to serve in these roles with distinction, culminating in her appointment as Auckland Branch Chair in 2025.
As Chair, Clair now oversees activities that represent more than half of NZIA’s total membership, a role that speaks to both her capability and her dedication. She has been instrumental in driving forward the Auckland Festival of Architecture, first as an event organiser and later as Chair of the Branch Festival Committee. Her leadership has produced dynamic, well-attended programmes that have broadened public engagement with architecture and provided accessible opportunities for members at all stages of their careers, particularly graduates and younger practitioners.
Her distinguished service exemplifies the values of fellowship, and her contribution to both the profession and the wider community makes her a most worthy candidate for elevation to Fellow of the NZIA.
Clair has been the Project Architect for the Manukau District Court Redevelopment Stage 2 and Customer Service Centre over the last three years.
