Completion of additional courtrooms and safer spaces at Manukau District Court

Our team recently attended the official opening of the MOJ Manukau Courthouse project. This project realises the completion of the original design completed by Architectus in association with Rewi Thompson.

Waikato-Tainui kaumātua, Minister for Courts Hon. Nicole McKee, members of the judiciary, Ministry of Justice representatives and staff, consultants, and contractors gathered before dawn to mark this significant milestone.

As Aotearoa’s busiest district court, Manukau plays a critical role in the justice system and this expansion is a cornerstone of the Ministry’s South Auckland Courts Strategy. This most recent project has delivered four new courtrooms along with upgraded support spaces, helping to better meet the needs of the community it serves.  Now complete, the Manukau District Court comprises 18 courtrooms, 6 hearing rooms, and associated court services ensuring it can meet growing demand while providing spaces that are fit-for-purpose, safe, and welcoming.
