21 First Avenue Waiheke
Kindly hosted by the owners, our team undertook a site visit recently to the newly completed First Avenue residence on Auckland’s beautiful Waiheke Island.
The design of this beach house seeks to integrate with its surroundings and take advantage of the site’s natural beauty and stunning vistas. Characterised by these strong landscape features and residential neighbourhood, the house is nestled amongst the large existing trees to provide shelter from the elements, while reducing its impact on the visual landscape.
The house’s position allows views north over Onetangi Beach from the main living area. A north facing deck over the parking area creates a large outdoor living area, maximising the northern sun and views. A courtyard on the southern side of the house captures the morning sun and provides a sheltered alternative to the predominant northern aspect.
