Our Auckland studio visited the Saint Kentigern Shore Road Campus last week where the Specialist Facilities & Senior Boys’ Building and Girls’ Primary School are well into construction.
Fast approaching the last six months of the build, the Specialist Facilities & Senior Boys’ Building is now fully enclosed and the interior being fitted out. The building exterior is organised by a series of brick piers and bays with full height glazed windows in between. The use of red brick cladding on the façade responds to the neighbouring buildings on the campus. The Specialist Facilities & Senior Boy’s building is due for completion in November this year.
Located on the opposite side of the playing field, the new Girls’ Primary School is now over halfway through construction. The superstructure is complete with roofing, external cladding, and internal partitions underway. Designed to sit within the landscape, the building steps up the slope with a series of outdoor learning spaces overlooking Hobson Bay. A cascading atrium and stair connect all floors. The Girls’ Primary School building is due for completion in early 2022.
