John is a registered architect with extensive experience gained in New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Having returned to New Zealand from London in 2010, John joined Architectus and took on a key role in Victoria University of Wellington’s Campus Hub and Library project. A joint venture with Athfield Architects, John led the documentation and delivery of the central building for the Architectus team over a three year period.
John’s experience in the educational sector is further underpinned by his role in the design and documentation of the envelope for the redevelopment of the B302 Science Centre at the University of Auckland. He was also involved in the development of the Outhwaite Building at St Peter’s College – a new teaching block that provides quality flexible teaching spaces and sits prominently on the school’s public frontage.
John was also involved in the design, documentation and delivery of one of the first ‘anchor projects’ in the Christchurch Central Recovery Plan – the Christchurch Bus Interchange.
As part of Kiwi Property’s ambitious plans to develop Sylvia Park Shopping Centre as a true metropolitan town centre, John led the Architectus team on the documentation and delivery of the first commercial office building, ANZ Raranga, over a three year period. Through his role on the contractor’s design team, he understands the importance of well-articulated client requirements and the ability to add value through innovative design solutions to achieve a quality design outcomes.
John is extensively involved in the redevelopment of Auckland International Airport Arrivals Terminal, playing a key role in the design and documentation of the envelope.
