Kirk David Smith

Kirk joined Architectus in 2005 and has in that time worked on a number of award-winning public, education and commercial projects across New Zealand and Australia. He was appointed an Associate in 2016.
Kirk’s collaborative approach is well suited to large multi-disciplinary team environments and his knowledge of the design process and project delivery has proven to produce innovative and practical outcomes for his clients.
He has most recently led a team on the design, documentation and delivery of a large mixed-use development which is targeting world leadership in sustainability. He has also been extensively involved in a number of significant projects at the University of Auckland including the conversion and refurbishment of existing 1960s building stock into contemporary workspaces.
Kirk has extensive technical skills and expertise, and a particular interest in the integration of BIM into the traditional design and delivery process. As a member of the New Zealand Institute of Architects’ BIM Working Group he lends his knowledge and expertise in this area to a wider industry group.
Kirk is also a certified New Zealand Green Building practitioner and is involved in ensuring the early integration of ESD initiatives into projects.
