Matt joined Architectus in 2019 as a Registered Architect with significant experience in large scale, technically complex projects across a range of sectors; civic, commercial, health, education and research.
With experience in design, documentation and contract delivery, Matt believes heavily in the value of open clear communication and the importance of building relationships with both the client, consultants and contractor. This has been fundamental with his involvement in projects with multiple stakeholders, challenging environments and technically demanding facilities.
Originally from the construction sector, Matt brings an organised structure and a pragmatic resolve to addressing complex issues. This approach was pivotal with his experience as Site Architect delivering the Christchurch Justice and Emergency Services Precinct and his role as Project Architect for a proposed $250 million development of the University of Otago’s Christchurch research facility and campus. Since joining Architectus, Matt has been leading design teams on projects such as the new Burnside Primary and Cobham Intermediate School and the new facility for AgResearch in Lincoln.
As a design team lead, Matt has been at the forefront of delivering seismic design solutions within complex facilities with post event requirements. This has been accomplished while always striving to ensure a result that meets the projects design intent and the client’s vision.
Matt understands the process from design to delivery to be a collaborative venture which yields both discovery and innovation and that challenges and tests those involved, always ensuring the best outcome for the project.
