Matthew returned to Architectus to establish a studio in Wellington after working in the United Kingdom. He initially joined the Architectus Auckland studio in 2012 before moving to Christchurch in 2014 to assist in leading the growth of the studio. Matthew was appointed an Senior Associate in 20221. He has played a key role in the brief development, design and delivery of a number of projects, notably Tūranga, Christchurch’s award-winning new central library.

Matthew has experience in the design, documentation and delivery of a broad range of projects including libraries, master planning, medium and high density residential, education and transport. Design-focused and a good communicator, Matthew has worked closely with a broad range of clients and stakeholders to turn a project’s vision and objectives into an effective and enriching built environment.

Matthew travelled extensively with The University of Auckland, including to study urban regeneration in the Iberian Peninsula. After graduation, Matthew spent time at The University of Auckland School of Architecture as a part-time tutor and guest critic, including travelling with the University to western Europe to tutor in a studio studying alpine architecture.
