Michael has over 20 years’ experience working in award-winning practices in New Zealand and the United Kingdom. He has worked on a broad range of projects in many industry sectors, including both new build and refurbishment/extension projects. Michael joined Architectus in 2013 following an 11-year period in London working for Allies and Morrison Architects.

While in London Michael was involved in projects ranging from commercial office buildings in central London and Leeds, extensions to a university college library, refurbishments to an historically listed concert hall and a large retail and leisure building in central Liverpool. He also worked as senior architect on buildings built to house the media for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Since joining Architectus, Michael has played key team leadership roles in the design and delivery of complex, large-scale education, commercial, infrastructure and residential projects. Most recently he has been involved in the detail design / construction stage documentation for a new International Arrivals Facility for Auckland International Airport, and a five building, 236-unit residential development for Kāinga Ora.

Michael’s level of technical and on-site construction experience has proven invaluable in collaborative large team environments, working with multiple stakeholders to develop practical and innovative solutions that achieve high levels of design and construction quality. He is interested in sustainable construction opportunities that result from building designs that consider increased use of off-site fabrications. This interest in sustainable construction is manifesting into the design and delivery of a six storey residential building project to be built with an engineered timber superstructure which Michael will be extensively involved in.
