Barrack Place is an 18-storey A-Grade commercial address at the gateway to the emerging western corridor of Sydney’s Central Business District.
The precinct bounded by York, King, Kent and Erskine Streets includes several significant heritage items and retains elements of the traditional warehouse quarter of Central Sydney.
Architectus’ design responds to this rich and diverse context through careful consideration of the ground plane, street wall, podium elements and adjacent buildings. An elegant glazed tower form is articulated as four independent tower volumes and rises above a robust brick podium which occupies the entire site.
A fine grain network of laneways defines the highly permeable ground plane with through-site links, boutique commercial and small retail tenancies.
Barrack Place has been awarded a WELLTM Certified Platinum Rating by the International Well Building Institute (IWBITM), having already held the title of Australia’s first ever WELL Core & Shell Pre-certified Gold building in 2017. It was also awarded a 6 Star Green Star rating in January 2019, one of only a handful of office buildings in Australia to achieve this auspicious double rating.
