With resource consents for both the new Girl’s Primary School and Specialist Facilities & Senior Boys’ Building being granted toward the end of 2019, the enabling works are now complete with construction about to begin on site.
The new projects are located adjacent to the main playing field on the campus. On the western edge of the field the Specialist and Senior Boys’ building reflects the brick character of the existing, neighbouring buildings. On the opposite side of the playing field the Girl’s School building steps down the Shore Road frontage and provides a clear identity and address for girls on the campus. The new building adopts the form and materiality of the Jubilee Sports Centre, also by Architectus, which sits adjacent on a similar perimeter site.
The two projects, which are due for completion 2023, comprise Stage One of the Architectus Master Plan and represent a significant commitment by the Saint Kentigern Trust Board to support and enhance teaching and learning for both boys and girls on the Shore Road Campus.
